A group of 35 EYFS teachers are working together using The Emmanuel Project (Disk1) materials to develop their provision for RE in their schools. For more information contact Tatiana Wilson

Alternatively, if your school has attended training you can draw on the EYFS Understanding Christianity resources which have the same ideas but these are presented slightly differently.

Most RE classrooms now have a computer; access to the internet and a projector. This means that we can now access a wide range of free resources which we can use to engage our students. Both reonline and NATRE / REtoday are good starting points, but the ideas below might prove useful too.

Good Starting Points
The following websites are good starting points for lesson plans; downloadable videos and other ideas
This site is free to join, and offers lots of downloadable videos plus lesson and assembly plans. The MTV Cribs style tours of places of worship are particularly useful.
Use the menu to search for RE resources by Key Stage. The site includes videos and resources that can be used with interactive whiteboards.
Creating Resources
An amazing free downloadable computer app that can be used on your school computer and displayed onto your interactive whiteboard. Not RE specific, but you can make games such as ‘Find 10’ where students have to select the 10 correct statements from a selection of 15, alongside student selectors; group makers and timers. The basic app is free, but you can download it for the whole school for a small price and for a personal subscription you can store your work ‘in the cloud’ (although everything is savable on your network / laptop)
Tarisa
If you google ‘tarsia’ (or speak to your Maths department if you are in a Secondary school) you will come across a wonderful tool to make a variety of puzzles. The free download allows you to make matching puzzles in the shape of hexagons / pentagons or triangles where students match up key words & definitions or you make dominoes or discussion circles.
MyRebus
Is a new(ish) website that allows you to make picture puzzles from words / phrases. Simply type in your word / question or phrase and it will turn it into a puzzle.
Here is one for the question ‘Which city in Israel would both Christians and Jews visit on pilgrimage?
Popplet (free on the internet, also downloadable as an ipad app)
Popplet is a brainstorming website that allows you to make very visual mind maps – these are colourful, simple to look at and can contain images (if you want to print out) of if you show online can include videos too. You can leave ‘popples’ empty for students to write in.
Extending Student Learning through Digital Magazines
Flipboard is a Google Chrome extension / app that allows you to copy articles from websites include newspaper and magazine articles into your own magazine. The Philosophy and Ethics Department at Ridgeway School are currently producing their own magazine for A Level students and it can be found here http://flip.it/jho1C

Welcome to Area 2-West of England
Area 2 of LTLRE stretches from Minehead to Swindon and covers the areas served by the Diocese of Bath and Wells and the Diocese of Bristol.
Area 2 (West of England) LTLRE includes the Local Authority districts of Bath and North East Somerset (1), North Somerset (2), Bristol (3), South Gloucestershire (4), Swindon (6), North Wiltshire (part of 7) and Somerset (11).
As a project, LTLRE seeks to offer the grass roots support for teachers of RE, strengthening practice in classrooms by building on existing models of support and finding new ways of connecting teachers to each other.
All Hub leaders receive training to carry out this role, meeting together 2-3 times a year to develop and improve their practice and understanding of the subject. We still have some vacancies for Hub leader roles, so please make contact with us if you are interested in finding out more.

What is Learn, Teach, Lead RE?
The project is a learning partnership project for Religious Education with a focus on creating a community of enquiry and professional development across the southwest peninsula.
The project aims to support all teachers of RE irrespective of their experience or qualifications through practical support at hub meetings and the opportunity to participate in projects that develop their teaching skills and the learning experiences of those they teach.
We are a grass-roots movement who look to partner with others. We believe that encouragement and collaboration in research projects enable innovative practice.
All our hub leaders are teachers themselves who are developing their own practice. Some are Specialist Leaders in Education who work with Teaching Schools or support Initial Teacher Education Programmes, others work nationally supporting the teaching of RE.
A key strength of our project is that hub leaders are equipped through specialised training giving them skills and expertise. In addition our annual conference is a springboard for much of our work in schools, offering all those who attend the opportunity to hear national figures in the Religious Education.

LTLRE in Area 1 was launched in October 2012 through funding from the St Luke’s College Foundation . The funding means that the CPD enjoyed by increasing numbers of teachers is FREE to teachers of RE in state funded primary, secondary and special schools. In Area 1 we are now moving to a different model where a range of partners including SACREs, Diocese, Teaching Schools and MATs sponsor a hub and are looking for funding to subsidise our conference in Autumn 2018.

Area 2: includes all schools in the areas of Bath and Wells Diocese, and Bristol Diocese, running from Minehead to Swindon. Ed Pawson is Programme Director for Area 2.
As a result of the positive evaluations received since the beginning of its work, the project has now received substantial funding from the Jerusalem Trust to extend its work into three other south western areas centred around the Dioceses of Bristol, Bath and Wells and Salisbury.

RE Quality Mark offers a useful self-evaluation tool for teachers, senior leaders and governors as well as pupil questionnaires free of charge. It is a great resource for new and experienced subject leaders. No writing or special files are required, just a highlighter pen. There may be grants available for school applying for the REQM for the first time. Contact your hub leaders for more information.
RE Today services works nationally and internationally to support Religious Education in schools. It is committed to the teaching of the major world faiths in Religious Education, and to an accurate and fair representation of their beliefs, values and practices in all its teaching materials.
National Association of Teachers of RE NATRE is the subject teacher association for RE professionals. It works to support those who teach and lead in all schools and institutions and at all stages of their career.
